A small, charming, one-horned, thorn-tailed, wingless monster, Tuffy, goes in search of his slippers which disappeared the night before. In this exciting and sometimes funny quest, he meets Prince, the raven, the sly fox, and several kinds of forest monsters, the mean snake Longana and the Mudheads, evil monsters of the muddy waters. His brave, innocent and obstinate heart helps him overcome dangerous obstacles, and his sympathy towards others is rewarded by the big-foots, a family of giant monsters. Papa Bigfoot gives him his wooden slippers the size of a small boat and Master Flattail, the beaver, turns one of them into a splendid sailboat. From another slipper he constructs the tricycle Tuffy always wanted to have. At the end of the story, the red tricycle stands beside Tuffy’s bed instead of the slippers as he prepares to go to bed richer for a great experience.
